I’m the owner and founder of Nova North Therapy, and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Medina, MN. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota - Duluth in 2012, and my Master’s degree from St. Mary’s University in 2018. After several years working in both group and individual settings, I founded Nova North Therapy in 2024.
At its core, my therapy practice is based on a relational, client-centered approach that utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Sensorimotor principles to encourage clients to take their healing into their own hands. I strive to create a context in which clients feel seen, heard, and understood above all else, trusting me to guide them toward positive change.
On a personal level, staying active is my way of making the most of every moment. I’m most happy outside, whether that be on a lake up north, skiing with my husband in the mountains, or just chasing my wild toddlers and crazy dog around the backyard. I love live music and am a firm believer that Christmas starts in October.
After having two of my own children and experiencing first hand the difficulty of pregnancy and postpartum, I was drawn to become a more direct resource for families during this challenging time. I am certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International and I strive to advocate and support parents through this transformative period in their lives.
I have a passion for helping people navigate the unique challenges of this critical development stage. I offer tailored therapeutic interventions designed to address issues such as anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and the pressures of emerging adulthood. By fostering a compassionate and supportive environment, I work to empower young individuals to build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and cultivate a strong sense of self. Additionally, I provide specialized support for high-achieving students and competitive sports athletes, helping them manage the demands of their rigorous environments.
Recognizing that we are wired for connection, my therapeutic approach focuses on understanding each client’s unique value system. By utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients take actionable steps toward creating meaningful change. Whether navigating major life events, evolving personal relationships, or addressing interpersonal conflicts, my goal is to foster resilience and empower clients to align their actions with their core values.
I am committed to helping clients navigate the complex aftermath of traumatic experiences after working for years with both individuals and groups in an intensive outpatient program. I am Level 1 certified in sensorimotor through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute and integrate somatic resourcing and mind-body techniques to help clients reconnect with their bodies and reclaim their sense of well-being.
